The newspaper is dead.

"The newspaper is dead! Long live the newspaper!" has become the incantation of those e-journalists who are applauding the death of the broadsheet newspaper. It's convenient, sure, to read The Age online when you arrive at your office desk of a morning, but does anything beat spreading the paper out over a table and pouring over the smudged ink?

I don't think so. It's in the same vein as an e-book; never (in my puritan mind at least) will the e-book replace the beauty and physical presence of paper and ink?
