I'm wide awake, it's morning!

I woke up this morning upside down. With my head technically where my feet are supposed to be, and my feet resting comfortably on my pillows.

I can only reason that this is because I had my alarm set for 4.45am to meet my running partner for a run, sat up, turned the clock off, and then tipped over and fell back asleep.

What, someone please tell me, is the aversion to waking up? It's becoming a serious lifestyle problem. When I wake up unnaturally, that is, with the buzzing, whirring sounds of my alarm clock on wheels (Clocky, I am not myself. There is an inner being that refuses to get up, DESPITE that fact that I have laid my running clothes out, and have gone to bed looking forward to going running in the morning. Yet - I don't get up.

Is it laziness? Lack of willpower? I cannot possibly be tired, I'm getting at least 6 hours of sleep. I may be low on iron, but that's the only remotely plausible reason I have.

It irritates me no end. I miss my run, my day is ruined. I stand my running partner up so consistently that she is now surprised when I show up. I angrily have to find another time to go running, which I inevitably do not because it's too hot or other things get in the way.

My biggest motivation for getting out of bed should be the fact that otherwise I have to spend the rest of the day trying to find room for a run.

From tomorrow, I'm getting up. Perhaps I can find an alarm clock that detonates a bomb under my bed.

  1. Sounds like it was one of "those mornings" all over town...but there's always the promise, that tomorrow lies in your hands and could be brighter than sunshine..but no exspolsives please!
